I was very pleased with a notification by the Department of interior to all Kuwaiti citizen to respect the French ban of the Niqab or Hijab. Even though Kuwait is a Islamic country, only the expatriates living in Kuwait can vouch for its religious tolerance. Kuwait has been over the years very tolerant towards all expatriates working and living in Kuwait. It is with great pride I write here that instead of revolting or opposing the ban proposed by France, the great country of Kuwait along with its great learned people have come about to repect the law of another country and advised all its citizens travelling to France to respect its law and abide with it. Long live the Emir and the great people of the Land of Kuwait!

Cancellation of sponsorship
As all the existing expatriate workforce working and living in Kuwait are aware of the sponsorship requirements or the Kafeel system as per the local saying has been existing over a period of time. Due to the striving efforts on the part of the acting minister for Social affairs and labor Dr Mohammed Al Afasi inspite of his medical condition has issed a press statement in the prestigious Arab Times dated 12th April, 2011 that he shall bring into effect the cancellation of the Sponsorship system in Kuwait and establishing a different entity to work towards the implementation of the new system. Dr Afasi has promised to do so within two weeks of placing the said proposal for scruitiny before the Legislative council of the Kuwaiti parliament. Hats off to Dr Afasi for his valiant efforts and towards a great future and belonging for the expatriate workforce working and living in Kuwait. The expat workforce need to commend the proposal of Dr Afasi and be sincerely grateful to the country of Kuwait for the same and look forward to its implementation.
Labor Law Kuwait
Labor law in Kuwait is followed in two ways. One as per the old law which all entittlements for employees are calculated up to 19th February, 2010, and the new one which came into effect from the 20th of February, 2010. A lot of expatriate employees are left in doubt as to the effectiveness of the law. The new ammendments made by the labor minister in Kuwait has yet to come into force, once the bylaws are authenticated. As per the latest notification since the labor minister is out of the country due to his medical treatment is the reason for the delay. Hopefully the expatriate workforce is looking forward to the enactment of the bylaws enabling for a better deal!

Respect the law
Respecting the law shows how how well refined and how perfectly a person can fit in the civilised society. For an expatriate living and working the country of Kuwait can at times be difficult, since work time does not permit him/her to seek the required knowledge of law. That's why I feel I could come in handy. Most of the expatriates are ignorant of law. But people remember ignorance of law is not a plea or grounds for seeking relief from any accusation or conviction.
